Rams fire Spagnuolo

The St. Louis Rams have fired head coach Steve Spagnuolo and general manager Bill Devaney after winning just two games this season.

Spagnuolo has only been with the Rams for a couple of years now, and it seems like a bit of a quick trigger to fire him already.

However, if the team is convinced that the general manager needs to go, then the head coach he fires is pretty much on his way out the door, too.

Spagnuolo came over to the Rams as a defensive guru from his time with the New York Giants, but he could never make St. Louis into a top defensive team. ( Read More…)

Rams stun Saints, 31-21

The St. Louis Rams finally picked up a victory with a stunning, 31-21 upset of the New Orleans Saints.

It was the Rams first win of the year and a shocking one at that since quarterback Sam Bradford didn’t even play because of an ankle injury.

The Rams actually built up a 21-0 lead before the Saints finally realized what hit them and tried to rally back in the second half.

The Saints did start cutting into the Rams large lead later in the second half, but it was far too little and far too late. ( Read More…)

Rams acquire Lloyd

The St. Louis Rams acquired wide receiver Brandon Lloyd from the Denver Broncos for a sixth round pick that could become a fifth rounder.

If Lloyd catches 30 or more passes this year, the Rams would ship a fifth round pick instead of a sixth rounder to the Broncos.

For St. Louis, this finally gives them a legitimate No. 1 wideout for young quarterback Sam Bradford, who has struggled mightily this season.

Lloyd gets to reunite with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who was the head coach with Denver when Lloyd finally broke out. ( Read More…)

McDaniels hired as Rams offensive coordinator

The St. Louis Rams have hired former Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels as their new offensive coordinator.

McDaniels previously made it known that he would like to trade for Tim Tebow wherever he landed, but that doesn’t look likely now.

The new coordinator will get to work with Sam Bradford, who is coming off a tremendous rookie season.

He widely regarded as the top young quarterback in the NFL, which will certainly keep Tebow in Denver. ( Read More…)

Rams fall short against Seahawks, 16-6

The visiting St. Louis Rams couldn’t get their offense going in a 16-6 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

The Rams could not take advantage of Seattle’s backup quarterback, who had more total yards than the entire St. Louis offense.

Rookie quarterback Sam Bradford didn’t play poorly, but he never seemed to settle into a rhythm.

Running back Steven Jackson carried the ball just 11 times for 45 yards and was mostly a non-factor. ( Read More…)

Rams fall to Saints, 31-13

The St. Louis Rams simply didn’t have the firepower to keep up with the New Orleans Saints in a 31-13 loss.

Quarterback Sam Bradford had one of his worst games of the season, throwing for 232 yards and two interceptions.

Running back Steven Jackson came up just shy of the 100-yard mark, finishing with 96 yards on 16 carries.

However, Jackson’s fumble was one of three costly turnovers for the Rams, who didn’t stand a chance on the road. ( Read More…)

Rams fall late to Bucs, 18-17

The St. Louis Rams surrendered a touchdown with just seconds to go in an 18-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Rams watched in horror as Tampa Bay tossed the game-winning touchdown pass with just 10 seconds to play.

Rookie quarterback Sam Bradford didn’t do much this week, throwing for just 126 yards, though he did have two touchdown passes.

Running back Steven Jackson put together another 100-yard game and seems to be back to his old ways. ( Read More…)

Rams thumped by Lions, 44-6

The visiting St. Louis Rams were overwhelmed from start to finish in a 44-6 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Quarterback Sam Bradford did not have one of his better days, throwing for just over 200 yards and two interceptions.

It was surprising to see the Rams offense struggle so much against a Detroit defense that has not played well this year.

Part of the problem could have been the knee injury that forced wide receiver Mark Clayton out of the game. ( Read More…)

Clayton out for season

St. Louis Rams wide receiver Mark Clayton is out for the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL.

Clayton was injured early in the team’s 44-6 loss to the Detroit Lions.

He was the team’s leading receiver on the season and had become rookie quarterback Sam Bradford’s favorite target.

The wide receiver was acquired in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens during the last couple of weeks of the preseason. ( Read More…)

Rams shut down Seahawks, 20-3

The St. Louis Rams have put together a modest winning streak following a 20-3 pasting of the Seattle Seahawks.

St. Louis was able to pound away at Seattle despite running back Steven Jackson operating at less than 100 percent.

Quarterback Sam Bradford just keeps getting better and better with each passing week, this time throwing for almost 300 yards and two touchdowns.

The most impressive thing about Bradford is the lack of turnovers and the fact that he has so few weapons at his disposal, yet he is still helping his team win games. ( Read More…)
