Bradford signed a six-year, $78 million contract, with $50 million guaranteed. The guaranteed money is the most in NFL history, and could be the last huge contract signed by a draft pick. With the Collective Bargaining Agreement sure to change after this season (and possibly a lockout), it is highly likely that rookies will no longer receive such lucrative contracts.“If you start worrying about all those other things, then it can really affect your performance,” Bradford said of his contract negotiations. “I have very high expectations for myself and this team, and I think that’s what’s going to drive me to succeed.”

Despite being the team’s top choice and future of the franchise, it is unlikely that he’ll start the season at the top of the depth chart. The Rams brought in veteran A.J. Feeley to alleviate the pressure on Bradford. But most are convinced that he’ll be the starting quarterback by season’s end.

“I felt really comfortable, more comfortable than I did in OTAs, which is a positive sign after taking four or five weeks off,” Bradford said. “I felt like it was a good day.”

Jackson, who has been injury-plauged in the past, underwent back surgery in the offseason.

The team had some talks with free agent running back Brian Westbrook but opted not to sign him.

They appear to be comfortable with Jackson as the starter and believe he is fully healthy.

Kenneth Darby will be the primary backup. It might be smart for the Rams to look to bring in an established running back just as insurance should Jackson have more back problems.

The Rams want to do everything in their power to avoid a potential training camp holdout.

Bradford very well may be the starting quarterback at the beginning of the season, but that’s not going to happen if he isn’t at training camp from Day 1.

The Rams also believe it’s important to show a skeptical fanbase how important it is to get things turned around in a hurry.

Bradford said he hired an agent so that he doesn’t have to think about contracts and believes Tom Condon will do his job.

The trade did not include an exchange of players or draft picks, which gives a good idea of what is about to go down.

Bruce’s best seasons came in St. Louis where he was one of the stars of the “Greatest Show on Turf.”

He helped the Rams reach two Super Bowls in the early part of the decade, winning one of them.

The wide receiver holds franchise records for receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

This is a great example of two teams trading busted draft picks hoping that a change of scenery will benefit both.

Barron was a huge disappointment in St. Louis and is part of the cleaning of the house by the new coaching staff.

The trade of Barron will allow Jason Smith, last year’s first-round pick, to move from right to left tackle.

Meanwhile, the Rams are hopeful that their 4-3 defense will be more beneficial for Carpenter than the Cowboys’ 3-4.

A physical is typically the last hurdle before a player signs a contract, but that might not be the case here.

Head coach Steve Spagnuolo said that the team is way too early in the process to make any committments.

Westbrook would give the Rams a running back with more versatility and playmaking ability in the passing game.

The team already has a star at the position in Steven Jackson, who would retain the starter’s job.

With really no other quarterbacks on the roster, it is entirely possible that Bradford starts from Day 1.

There is always the possibility that the team will bring in a veteran before training camp to take the lumps before Bradford is ready.

Some feel that Bradford needs to start right away since the team invested their top pick in him.

Others feel that putting Bradford in the line of fire before he is ready could ruin his career before it gets started.

The Rams have been back and forth on who to select with the first overall pick but now seem to have settled on Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Sam Bradford.

However, the Browns also seem very interested in selecting a quarterback in the first round and might want to move up to grab Bradford.

The only problem for the Browns is that they would have to sign over a number of their 2010 and even 2011 draft picks in order to move up just a few spots to get their quarterback.

St. Louis likes Bradford a lot, but they have so many needs that they could be better off trading the top pick to Cleveland and receiving several selections in return.

Bulger, who was once considered the franchise quarterback, battled injuries and inconsistency the past couple of years.

The quarterback seemed to struggle when both Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce began to show their age.

Things didn’t get any better as Orlando Pace’s best days came to an end and the offensive line turned into a sieve.

The Rams brought in the quarterback for a private workout and came away impressed with what they saw.

Now the Rams have a big decision to make. Do they take Bradford with the No. 1 overall pick or upgrade their club in another area in hopes of taking McCoy a couple of rounds later?

There is no doubt that Bradford is the better pro prospect, but how much better is he than McCoy?

There is also a bigger injury risk when it comes to Bradford because of the shoulder problem that plagued him his junior year.
